- The promise attached was forgiveness and the Holy Spirit
- We do not earn salvation (Eph 2:8) but simply respond in repentance and baptism to receive God’s promise.
Repentance
- Rom 2:4 – kindness does not equal approval
- Titus 2:11-14 – grace teaches us to say “no” to sin
- 2 Cor 7:10-11 – Godly sorrow brings about repentance
- What are the sins that give you the greatest struggle ? (Gal 5:19-21, 2 Tim 3:1-5, James4:17)
- Have you truly repented in your life?
Baptism
- Rom 6:1-7 – baptism is a participation in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
- When did the new life come? ( after the death and burial)
- Gal 3:26 – how do we get “into Christ”?
- Acts 22:16 – At what point did Paul equate forgiveness of sins?

- What did those who wanted to accept God’s promise do?
- Who was this promise for? v-39
